WHO WE ARE
The shelter and counseling services started in 1971. It started out with counseling services and a shelter that was in a home. In 2006, the actual shelter was built. In 2017 we had a name changed from Area Youth Shelter to Unity Point. That was to broaden everything so that people wouldn't just think that we are a shelter but we also do counseling services for children and adults.
Unity Point Counseling & Resource Center, Inc. (UPCRC) is a not-for-profit community organization that advocates, assists and facilitates a community based structured process of emergency shelter care, community counseling for mental health as well as substance use, socialization, recreation, and educational assistance to youth and their families and to adults to make a positive difference in their lives. We welcome all consumers with substance-related and addictive disorders, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions.
